Certificate of teaching skills
Admission requirements:
The decree of 11/04/2014 regulating qualifications and functions in primary and secondary education organized and subsidized by the French Community (and its amendments) requires the student to hold
- Either a higher secondary education certificate (CESS) which allows access to a recruitment position in teaching.
- This refers to a higher education qualification that grants access to a teaching position . Holders of a master's degree that allows access to the competitive examination for teaching positions in upper secondary education should apply to the university of their choice (see the statement from Mr. STOLZ, Director General of Adult Education).
Remarks:
- A candidate who does not hold a CESS (Certificate of Secondary Education) but whose certificate allows them to access a teaching position must first complete the course unit " Oral and Written Expression in French for Teaching Purposes (981011U36D3) ". This unit is not offered at the Morlanwelz Institute for Adult Education and must therefore be taken at another institute.
- A candidate can easily find out what roles they can play by consulting the page " Being a teacher: what role can I play in education? "
- A candidate who has successfully completed a sixth year of general, technical or artistic humanities or who has successfully completed a seventh year of vocational education is in possession of the CESS.
- Some upper secondary education qualification certificates for adult education allow students to obtain the CESS (Certificate of Upper Secondary Education) by successfully completing the "General Education Supplement for Obtaining the Certificate Corresponding to the Upper Secondary Education Certificate." This supplementary training is not offered at the EAFC in Morlanwelz. It can be taken at the IEPSCF in Thuin.
Course description:
The training program lasts a minimum of two years and includes:
- A minimum of 660 course periods including: Methodology, educational psychology, didactics, organization and legislation, communication practice, sociology, …

Certificates of ineligibility for the competitive examination for university teaching positions
The ARES Board of Directors, at its meeting of July 10, 2018, addressed the issue of universities issuing certificates of ineligibility allowing candidates to register for the CAP (Certificate of
Aptitude for Teaching in Higher Secondary Education). The ARES Board of Directors approved the following proposal: certificates of ineligibility for the CAP will be issued to applicants meeting one of the following two conditions:
- the applicant does not have the diploma required to begin the agrégation;
- The organizational conditions do not allow the applicant to attend classes and continue to carry out their professional activity at the same time.
The issuance of certificates of ineligibility will continue, in its current form, only until the implementation of the decree relating to Initial Teacher Training.
Once this is complete, any person in possession of a certificate of ineligibility will be able to enroll in the CAP (Vocational Proficiency Certificate) program organized by adult education services, under the conditions defined above.
